Brabham has revealed the new BT62R, a road-going version of the Anglo-Australian brand’s BT62 track car.
Available in either left or right-hand drive, the BT62R incorporates a number of key changes compared to its track counterpart.
Externally, its carbon-fibre body features a revised front splitter, a new top-mounted air intake, a new rear diffuser, and a re-designed single-plane rear wing.
It also gets variable ride heights (70 mm, 90 mm, 110 mm or 130 mm), a new exhaust system to meet legal road-noise limits, and, on the inside, a new road seat design as well as air conditioning and a heated windscreen. The dashboard also features a new digital control panel.
With 700 bhp and 492 lb-ft of torque, the BT62R is further claimed to have the highest-output, naturally aspirated V8 on the market. The 5.4 litre engine is mated to a 6-speed sequential transmission with revised gear ratios more suitable for road use. Steering wheel paddles also come fitted as standard.
“Launching the BT62R is a great achievement for the team at Brabham Automotive. All the requisite design and engineering to turn the track BT62 into the road going BT62R has been done in-house by our team of engineers, which is a great testimony to their endeavour and expertise,” says company CEO, Dan Marks.
